  • Direct Description: This stamp features a dark line-drawing replication of Alexander Graham Bell’s original patent sketch of his liquid transmitter telephone. It is printed over a subtle, light-tan background.
  • Issue Date: March 10, 1976 (The exact centenary date of Bell’s famous first words to his assistant Thomas Watson: “Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you.”). 
  • Denomination: 13 cents. 
  • Colors & Typography: The diagram is outlined in dark ink. Bold typographic elements read “Telephone Centennial” in a striking deep purple script/serif font across the top, paired with red lettering at the bottom indicating the value and country. 
  • Designer & Production: Designed by George Tachemy. It was printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on a Giori press using tan paper.
