Historical SignificanceJatindra Nath Das was an integral member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). He was arrested during the supplementary Lahore Conspiracy Case in June 1929. While imprisoned in Lahore Jail alongside Bhagat Singh, he initiated a hunger strike demanding identical living conditions and equal treatment for Indian political prisoners relative to European convicts. Refusing forced feeding, he passed away on September 13, 1929, after an grueling 63-day hunger strike at just 24 years old. The stamp was officially launched on the exact 50th anniversary of his martyrdom.
