Design and Legacy
The stamp was released by the Government of India to celebrate the profound social and spiritual contributions of the Lingayat saint, who famously used his Vachanas in Kannada to advocate for social equality and casteless society. The stamp features a portrait representation of Basaveshwara along with his designation as a “Reformer – Statesman”.
The stamp is a highly collected piece by philatelists today. Mint sheets, individual blocks, and related items like the First Day Cover are occasionally available through specialized outlets .
