The 2550th Nirvan Kalyanak of Bhagwan Mahaveer was a significant spiritual and national event in India, commemorating 2,550 years since the 24th Tirthankara attained Nirvana (liberation). The main celebrations, known as the Bhagwan Mahavir Nirwan Mahotsav, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21 April 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Key Commemorations
To mark this historic milestone, the Government of India released several commemorative items:
₹100 Commemorative Coin: A special silver proof coin was released, featuring the Pawapuri Jal Mandir (the site of Mahaveer’s Nirvana) on the reverse side.
Commemorative Postage Stamp: The Department of Posts issued a new stamp and a First Day Cover depicting Bhagwan Mahaveer in deep meditation.
Ahimsa Mahotsav: A year-long festival was launched to spread Mahaveer’s core principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), Anekantavada (non-absolutism), and Aparigraha (non-attachment).
